Florida in Eighth Heading into Final Round of the Women’s Golf SEC Championship

The 21st-ranked Gators’ women’s golf team shaved four strokes off of its opening round team score but dropped to eighth in the standings at the SEC Championship in Birmingham, Ala., on Saturday.

The 21st-ranked Gators' women's golf team shaved four strokes off of its opening round team score but dropped to eighth in the standings at the SEC Championship in Birmingham, Ala., on Saturday. Florida scored +7 (295) as a team, while Texas A&M took sole possession atop the leaderboard by scoring an impressive -11 (277).

Competing in their first SEC Championship, freshman Taylor Tomlinson and senior Anna Young remain the only Gators inside of the top-25 heading into the final round of competition on Sunday. Young scored +1 (73) Saturday to lead the team and tie for 25th, while Tomlinson carded two-over (74) to tie for 11th, just seven strokes off the lead.

The SEC Championship will conclude tomorrow with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. (CT) at the par-72 Greystone Golf and Country Club 6,308-yard Legacy course.

Head Coach Emily Glaser:

On the Gators' mindset heading into the final day of competition:

“I thought we did a lot of things right today. We just couldn't get anything going, birdies were tough to come by and on a day like today where the course was very scoreable, you are going to lose some ground. I give the girls credit that they hung in there the whole day. Karolina and Anna finished their rounds strong. My hope that is that we learned a lot today, and that we implement those adjustments tomorrow. Tomorrow is about playing fearless and leaving it all out there.”
