Gators to Wrap Up Regular Season at Old Waverly
Friday, April 3, 2015 | Men's Golf
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida men's golf team will wrap up its regular season in West Point, Miss., next week, when it challenges the field at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.
The two-day tournament begins Monday and is hosted by Mississippi State at the Old Waverly Golf Club.
It will be the Gators' final competition before the SEC Championship, which will be held April 17-19 at the Sea Island Golf Club Seaside Course in St. Simons Island, Ga.
Florida is looking to improve its performance following a 12th-place finish at its most recent showing, the Chris Schenkel Invitational, two weeks ago.
Head Coach JC Deacon
On the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship:
“Old Waverly is a great golf course and a tournament I think that all of the guys are looking forward to. We've had a little bit of time off to get going and re-charge our batteries, so I expect a great effort out of all of them.”
On the importance of doing well at the last regular-season tournament:
“I think you obviously want to get that momentum going a little bit, but I'm not really too worried about the result. Like I said, I think we just have to get more reps under our belts, keep playing hard and establish the five guys that are going to be there at SECs and the postseason. I'm not too worried about the result. We just have to keep doing what we're doing and keep the energy up.”
