
Florida Gymnasts to Compete in NCAA Championships Semifinal I

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The two-time defending national champion University of Florida gymnastics team is in the afternoon NCAA Championships' semifinal on Friday, April 17. Competition begins at 2 p.m. (ET). Semifinal I contains Florida, UCLA, Georgia, Michigan, Stanford and Utah.

Semifinal II (which begins at 8 p.m. ET) consists of Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Oregon State. The NCAA Championships are set for April 17-19 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Six teams have claimed the team title in the 34-year history of the NCAA Gymnastics Championships – Alabama, UCLA, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma and Utah. Four of the six programs to win a NCAA team title are in the first semifinal (UCLA, Florida, Georgia, Utah).
This is the second season that the seeding determined at the time of regional selections holds throughout the championships. Teams 1, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 15 will compete in Friday's Semifinal II and teams 2, 3, 6, 7, 10 and 11 compete in Semifinal I.
Florida is the No. 2 seed for the fifth time in the program's history. The Gators advance to the national site after winning last Saturday's NCAA Morgantown Regional.
The top three teams in each of the April 17 semifinals advance to the NCAA Super Six on Saturday, April 18 at 7 p.m. (ET), where the national team champion is determined. ESPN3 will show the NCAA Super Six live and the meet airs tape-delayed on ESPNU April 29 at 7 p.m. ET.
Florida won its first NCAA team title at the 2013 NCAA Super Six team final and shared the 2014 title with Oklahoma after each team turned in a Super Six record total of 198.175.

The NCAA conducted a blind draw to set the start order for each of the semifinal sessions. This is the eighth time in its 33 NCAA Championships' appearances Florida opens competition on floor, with the last coming in 2013.
