
Haeger, Stewart Named Top-26 Finalists for National Player of the Year

OKLAHOMA CITY – University of Florida senior Lauren Haeger and junior Kelsey Stewart both placed among the top 26 finalists for the 2015 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, announced Wednesday by the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA).
A force at the plate and in the circle, Haeger has earned All-Southeast Region First Team honors in each of her first three years. The 2013 All-American is the Gators' all-time RBI leader (233) and stands second on the Florida career home run list with 64. Haeger also ranks among the all-time UF leaders in ERA (eighth, 1.82). The Peoria, Ariz., native is tied for sixth in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) with 12 home runs this season, and additionally stands among the league leaders in RBI (ninth, 44), walks (T-6th, 28), ERA (second, 1.19), opposing batting average (fourth, .180), wins (T-4th, 16), and strikeouts (sixth, 121). The fourth-year Gator recently was selected by the Dallas Charge in the 2015 National Pro Fastpitch Draft.
Stewart has continued to play at the highest level following her First Team All-America selection in 2014. The two-time USA Softball Women's National Team member stands among the SEC leaders in hitting (ninth, .433), runs scored (fifth, 44), hits (T-3rd, 58), doubles (T-2nd, 13), triples (T-2nd, six) and stolen bases (seventh, 18). The Wichita, Kan., native currently holds the Gator career records for average (.413) and steals (90). In addition, Stewart owns the UF single-season records for triples (10, 2013) and steals (36, twice).
ASA will announce the Top 10 finalists for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year on May 6.
