
Bailey Castro Among 48 Graduating Gator Student-Athletes

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gator Softball senior outfielder Bailey Castro will graduate from the University of Florida this weekend as part of a group of 48 student-athletes who will earn their degrees from UF.
Entering the Gators' final regular-season series, the Pembroke Pines, Fla., native stands fourth in the Florida record book (minimum 200 at-bats) with a .467 career on-base percentage. In addition, her .545 on-base clip and .781 slugging percentage going into the weekend are the highest single-season marks in school history (minimum 90 at-bats). Castro also tied school benchmarks with two home runs in an inning (4/8/12 vs. Ole Miss) and four walks in a game (three times; last: 3/29 at Mississippi State).
For her career, the senior owns a .270 average with 103 runs scored, 13 doubles, 34 home runs and 101 RBI, and she has not committed an error in 48 chances. Castro is enjoying her best season as a Gator, entering the weekend with career highs in batting average (.343), runs scored (38), hits (36), home runs (14) and RBI (30, tie). The outfielder was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll last year and the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll in 2012, and earned a spot on the Women's College World Series All-Tournament Team last year after helping Florida capture its first national championship.
Castro will graduate from UF with a degree in Sociology.
