Anna Young Named to SEC Women’s Golf Community Service Team

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida senior women's golfer Anna Young was selected as a member of the SEC Community Service team, the league announced Monday.
The SEC selects a community service team for each conference sport, aiming to highlight one athlete per school who gives back to his or her community through service.
In 2014-15 alone, Young clocked more than 25 hours of community service around the Gainesville area. She was very involved in the Gator Move initiative, which aims to help educate and encourage healthy lifestyles for young children in the community through elementary school visits twice a week.
The senior also donated her time visiting patients at Shands Hospital, mentoring elementary and middle school students, assisting with Baby Gators Field Day and helping with Bread of the Mighty Food Bank.
She volunteered for Climb for Cancer, a non-profit organization offering sports camps to children fighting cancer, and Miracle on Main Street, an event that provided Gainesville families the opportunity to shop for donated Christmas presents. Her efforts at that event helped more than 1,000 local kids receive what could have been their only holiday gifts.
