Gator Lacrosse’s Shannon Gilroy & Caroline Fitzgerald Named IWLCA All-Americans

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - University of Florida senior Shannon Gilroy and sophomore Caroline Fitzgerald are among the All-America teams announced today by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). The 48 players named today will be honored at the IWLCA All-American banquet on Saturday, June 6 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King Prussia, Pennsylvania.
This is Gilroy's third consecutive year on the IWLCA All-America team and second consecutive placement on the first team. Her 74 goals stands second in the nation for the 2015 season and she leads with 98 points. A finalist for the 2015 Tewaaraton Award, she also led Florida and ranked among the nation's top 50 in assists (No. 44/24) and draw controls (No. 32/79). She was named the 2015 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and also picked up the tournament's Most Valuable Player award after leading the Gators with eight goals and one assist in the tournament's two games. Her career totals rank in the NCAA all-time top 20: No. T-8 with 256 career goals and No. T-16 with 320 points.
Fitzgerald makes her first appearance as an IWLCA All-American in 2015 as a third-team selection. The sophomore ranked second among the Gators with 32 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers. Her 32 ground balls are the most-ever recorded by a UF sophomore. Additionally, she even scored her first-two career goals in 2015, both coming against Marquette. Fitzgerald joined Gilroy on the All-BIG EAST first- and BIG EAST All-Tournament teams.
