GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In addition to its success on the field, the University of Florida softball team has excelled in the classroom during the past year. For the fourth consecutive year, the Gators received recognition from the NCAA on Wednesday for an Academic Progress Rate (APR) that ranks in the top 10 percent of all Division I softball teams. The APR is updated each semester to measure the academic progress of all scholarship student-athletes.
"As a softball program, I want to thank the Office of Student Life and especially Tony Meacham for their support and continued efforts to make academics a priority for our student-athletesm" said Florida Head Coach Tim Walton. "I also want to acknowledge our athletes and their parents for buying into how hard we are going to work in all three phases of their daughters' lives: Personal growth, academics and athletics."
Current Florida players who were named to last year's SEC Academic Honor Roll are Bailey Castro, Jessica Damico, Briana Little, Kathlyn Medina, Kirsti Merritt, Aubree Munro and Taylor Schwarz. The conference honor roll for the 2015 season will be released at a later date.
