GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida junior shortstop Richie Martin has been named to the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 Team. He becomes the first Gator baseball player to be honored since Cole Figueroa made Academic All-District 3 in 2008.
A native of Brandon, Fla., Martin has registered a cumulative 3.34 grade point average in civil engineering. He has started all 49 games for the No. 9 Gators and is hitting .319 overall, with team-highs in runs (44) and stolen bases (16), as well as 26 walks, nine doubles, four homers and four triples.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected and announced in June.
