Transcript of Gators' Postgame Press Conference
Postgame Notes:
- Florida captured four of the five meetings with Miami this season, including a pair of victories during the NCAA College World Series.
- Under Kevin O'Sullivan, the Gators are 8-0 against Miami in the NCAA Tournament and have ended the Hurricanes season in 2009 (Gainesville Regional), 2010 (Gainesville Super Regional), 2011 (Gainesville Regional) and 2015 (College World Series).
- Florida has now claimed 21 of the last 26 meetings versus its Sunshine State rival.
- The Gators' four homers tonight were more than in the entire 2013 & 2014 College World Series and tied for the most in a CWS since Vanderbilt had four during the 2011 event.
- Harrison Bader also led off the SEC Tournament Championship Game with a home run against Vanderbilt on May 24 in Hoover, Ala.
- Preston Tucker and Mike Zunino had gone deep in 2011 for the Gators' only homers at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha before tonight.
- Florida became the first team with two homers in the same inning and the same game in Omaha since 2012, when Arizona had a pair against Florida State.
- Alex Faedo struck out the side in the first and finished with a career-high seven strikeouts over five innings.
- His total of seven strikeouts was one shy of the most in a CWS outing by a Gator hurler, accomplished by Alan Horne in 2005 against Tennessee.
- After a one-out walk in the third, Faedo had Christopher Barr line out to first baseman Peter Alonso for an inning-ending double play.
- In two NCAA Tournament starts, Faedo has tallied 13 strikeouts in 11 innings, giving up six hits and a couple of earned runs.
- The Gators are now 17-6 against top-25 teams this season.
- With three runs in the first inning, Florida improved to 23-1 in 2015 when scoring in the opening frame.
