Dendy Does It Again, Strikes Gold in Long Jump at USA Outdoors to Highlight Day One of USAs

EUGENE, Ore. -- Marquis Dendy is the 2015 USA Outdoors Champion in the long jump after putting on another clinic in Eugene Thursday on the first day of the USA Championships at Hayward Field. Dendy's first leap was the winner with the top all-conditions mark in the world this year at 8.68m/28-5.75 (+3.7) to earn the right to sport the Red, White and Blue for Team USA at the World Championships in Beijing come August.

After a windy start, Dendy put together an impressive field series, ending with a wind-legal PR 8.39m/27-6.5 finale in an entertaining long jump competition.

Freshman thrower Lloydricia Cameron also put herself in good position to don the Stars and Stripes with a runner-up finish in the junior competition discus throw with a 52.01m/170-7 PR to jump onto UF's all-time top-10 list at No. 10 in the event.

The final trio of Gator competitors Thursday all advanced on to the semifinals round of their respective events, Najee Glass (45.73) and Robin Reynolds (51.97) in the 400m, and Eric Futch in the 400 hurdles (50.73) with semis of all three slated to be contested late Friday evening.

A total of 15 Gators will be on the track and in the field on through the span of USA Outdoors and USA Juniors at Hayward Field June 25-28: Ciarra Brewer, Lloydricia Cameron, Kyra Jefferson, Darrielle McQueen, Fawn Miller, Bridgette Owens, Lauren Perry and Robin Reynolds for the ladies, KeAndre Bates, Marquis Dendy, Dedric Dukes, Eric Futch, Najee Glass, AJ McFarland and Mark Parrish on the men's side.

USATF will have all the action live Friday on USATF.tv, while NBC Sports Network will have live coverage from 10 p.m.-midnight ET.
