Dendy, Dukes, Jefferson Cap UF's Outstanding Four-Day Stint at USA Outdoors

EUGENE, Ore. – Jumper Marquis Dendy and sprinters Dedric Dukes and Kyra Jefferson all turned in top-notch performances to cap a successful four-day stint for Gator track and field athletes at the 2015 USA Outdoor Championships, held at Historic Hayward Field.
In Sunday's triple jump final, Dendy, who won Thursday's long jump title with the longest all-conditions leap (8.68 meters/28-5.75 feet) at the USA Outdoor Championships since 1994, took third place, helping a pair of former Gators—Omar Craddock and Will Claye—sweep the top three spots. The Middletown, Delaware native's best jump was a wind-legal 17.23 meters (56-6.5 feet).
Dukes got things started for the Orange and Blue competitors with the fifth-fastest overall time (20.36 seconds) in the morning's 200 meter semifinals. The time was also good enough for second place in his heat. Roughly three hours later, Dukes matched his best time of the week, finishing in 20.15 seconds and nabbing fifth place in the final.
Jefferson, a rising redshirt junior, posted the fourth-fastest time (22.62 seconds), as well as the second-best time in her heat, to qualify for the 200 meter final. In what was one of the week's most exciting races, Jefferson crossed sixth, recording a time of 22.56 seconds, a little more than three tenths of a second behind the winner.
