Florida Women’s Golf Reveals 2015-16 Tournament Schedule
Wednesday, July 22, 2015 | Women's Golf
Fourth-year head coach Emily Glaser and the Gator women's golf team released its 2015-16 schedule on Wednesday. Florida will compete in 10 regular-season tournaments, including six that it participated in during the 2014-15 season.
For the fifth year in a row, the Orange and Blue will tee off its season at the Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston, from Sept. 13-15.
The Gators will continue the 2015 fall season with three tournaments that differ from last season's schedule. Florida will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate, a tournament the Gators won back in 2007. Two weeks later the squad will head to Chicago, for the Windy City Classic, and it will wrap up the 2015 fall season at the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio from Oct. 25-27.
The team returns in the spring semester to the Black Diamond Ranch Golf Club for its fourth-straight appearance at the Florida Challenge in Lecanto, Fla., a one-day tournament on Feb. 1.
The Gators then hit the road for the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif., and follow that up with a trip to New Orleans, La., for the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship, UF's 16th and sixth straight appearances in the respective events.
The squad returns home to host the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational over the weekend of March 5-6, marking the 44th annual tournament on the Mark Bostick Golf Course.
After capturing the 2015 team title at the Briar's Creek Invitational, Florida will look for back-to-back event titles in Charleston, S.C. on March 21-22. UF will conclude the regular season at a new event, the Clemson Invitational, in Sunset, S.C., from April 1-3.
UF will kick off postseason play by traveling to Birmingham, Ala., on April 15-17 for the 2016 SEC Championship.
The NCAA Regional Championship will be held at four different sites from May 5-7: the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif., the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas, the University Club in Baton Rouge, La. and the Shoal Creek Club in Shoal Creek, Ala.
The Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore., will host the NCAA Women's Golf Championship May 20-25.
Head Coach Emily Glaser Says: “It's always fun to release our new schedule, and it's a reminder that the season is just around the corner. This year, we have a great mix of some of our favorite tournaments from years past and some new additions as well.”
“Similar to past seasons, there are a few themes to our schedule. First, we will travel all over the country to compete on different types of golf courses and in different playing conditions. In addition, the strength of our schedule is outstanding, and we will be testing ourselves against the best teams in the country every week.”
