GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Four Gator Softball student-athletes Jessica Damico, Briana Little, Francesca Martinez and Kathlyn Medina will graduate from the University of Florida this weekend after finishing their college softball careers as two-time national champions last spring.
Along with this quartet of Gators, Bailey Castro graduated from UF in early May with a degree in sociology.
“When I recruit, I talk to each of them about earning a degree from the University of Florida and winning championships,” head coach Tim Walton said. “This group of seniors achieved those goals and raised the Florida softball tradition to new levels along the way.
“Congratulations to Bailey, Jessica, Briana, Francesca and Katie on a truly great accomplishment.”

This quintet helped the Gators to a 60-7 record in 2015, taking the Southeastern Conference title as well as the NCAA crown. UF reached the 60-win plateau for just the third time in history and posted its third-highest win percentage (.895).
The Gators ranked first nationally in winning percentage, they tied for first in wins, were first in fielding percentage (.981), fourth in ERA (1.63), 11th in on-base percentage (.438), 22nd in scoring (6.55 runs per game), 29th in slugging percentage (.514) and 32nd in home runs per game (1.19). Defensively, Florida's .981 fielding percentage was the best mark in school history, eclipsing the .979 mark set in 2013. The Gators committed just 33 errors in 67 games, seven fewer than any previous UF squad.
Overall during this group's four years, Florida posted an .844 winning percentage (221-41), won two national titles and two SEC crowns.
Along with these four Gators, another 13 UF student-athletes will participate in tomorrow's commencement ceremonies in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
