No. 1 Gators meet No. 5 Alabama Friday in O’Connell Center

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida gymnastics continues action versus top-10 teams this Friday with a home meet versus Alabama. Meet time is set for 6:45 p.m. ET in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
This is the Gators' third consecutive meet versus a team that advanced to the 2015 NCAA Championships and second straight meeting against a 2015 NCAA Super Six teams.

In the Gators' SEC Opener:
Florida took its second straight meeting versus a top-10 team last Friday when the Gators opened Southeastern Conference action at then No. 8 Auburn with a 197.075 – 195.95 win.
Three Gators collected their third straight titles on four different events. Bridget Sloan used a 9.925 to claim uneven bars win No. 3. Alex McMurtry again stuck her vault landing, taking her third win with a 9.90. Kennedy Baker used the high score on any event (9.95) to take her third floor title of season. McMurtry took her first collegiate beam title with her 9.90 beam score.
The all-around title went to Sloan. Her 39.575 – which equals the nation's second high all-around total of 2016 – gave Sloan her third straight all-around win. Baker was second at 39.475 and Alicia Boren shared third with AU's Caitlin Atkinson at 39.275.
SEC Honors for Sloan & McMurtry:
Florida's Sloan and McMurtry picked up SEC weekly honors on Tuesday for their performances at Auburn. Sloan claimed her third consecutive and 10th overall SEC Gymnast of the Week honor while McMurtry is the SEC Specialist of the Week.
About the Crimson Tide:
Alabama opened the season with a 196.550-196.30 loss at No. 6 UCLA, then returned home to defeat No. 14 Missouri 197.175-196.050. The Tide took a 196.875-196.075 win over No. 7 Auburn two days later in a neutral meet held in Birmingham, Alabama. Last Friday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama was upset 196.70-196.40 by No. 10 Arkansas.
The Tide are the two-time defending Southeastern Conference champions and have advanced to the NCAA Super Six each of the last eight seasons, with two of the program's six NCAA team titles coming in that span (2011, 2012).
The Tide returns five All-Americans this season, including senior Lauren Beers, who finished 10th in 2015 NCAA all-around competition. This is the first visit to the O'Connell Center for Tide Head Coach Dana Duckworth, who is in her second season leading the Alabama team.
