In last seven years, Gators incoming classes ranked No. 1 five times and No. 2 once.
Florida's five member freshman class checks in at No. 2 on CollegeGymFans.com's list of the top-10 2016 recruiting classes. In the last seven seasons, Florida's classes ranked No. 1 five times and No. 2 once.
Each member of Florida's freshmen class has performed well at U.S. or Junior Olympic competitions. Peyton Ernst (2013-14, 2012-13) is a former U.S. Senior National Team member. Alicia Boren won the Junior Olympic Level 10 all-around title each of the past four years and also accumulated five event titles. Lacy Dagen won the 2014 Junior Olympic balance beam title in 2014. She will be sidelined in 2016 with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Ashley Hiller was runner-up to Boren in 2015 Junior Olympic – Senior D vault competition and Amanda Cheney took fourth on beam at the same meet.
The 2016 season begins Friday for preseason No. 2 Florida. The Gators are at Texas Woman's University for an 8 p.m. ET competition. FloGymnastics will provide a live stream of the meet for subscribers.
Then the three-time defending NCAA champion Gators make their home debut on Friday, Jan. 15 versus No. 6 UCLA. Meet time is set for 6:45 p.m. in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Tickets are $5.00 for adults, while children 17 and under and UF students with Gator1 cards are admitted free. The first 1,000 fans at the Jan. 15 meet receive a national championship LED ring. The home opener will stream on SEC Network +.
