Florida opened 2016 NCAA action with a 3-0 win versus Florida Gulf Coast at Dizney Stadium on Nov. 11. After a scoreless opening half, three different Gators scored in a 16-minute span. Meggie Dougherty Howard scored first in the 66th minute off the through ball from Samantha Chung. Freshman Julia Lester brought the ball in the box, hesitated while the defenders dropped and took advantage of that bit of space to score from 10 yard in the 78th minute. Savannah Jordan finished off the UF scoring in the 82nd minute when she placed the ball just inside the post.

Florida turned in its ninth shutout of the season and eighth of last 12 matches. Kaylan Marckese now moves to a tie for third on Florida's season shutouts list as she's been in goal for every match this season.
