Gator Gymnasts Win * Guise Sets Gator All-Time Best All-Around Score

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- University of Florida senior gymnast Kristen Guise of Coral Springs set the Florida All-Time Best all-around score to 39.80 Friday night at The Gainesville Sun Invitational. Her score Friday betters the previous school record of 39.65 set by Guise when she won the 1995 Southeastern Conference all-around crown.
Guise, who is currently the nation's third-ranked all-arounder, won at least a share of every event title Friday night. She and Gator freshman Susan Hines shared the vault title with identical marks of 9.975 -- which also matches the Gator All-Time Best mark for that event. Guise claimed the other event titles outright, taking the uneven bars (9.925), balance beam (9.925) and floor exercise (9.975) crowns.
In the team competition, No. 4 Florida posted a 195.575 to claim the meet title. Iowa State took second at 193.55, while No. 16 Illinois finished third at 189.825. Junior All-American Chrissy Vogel of Gainesville did not compete Friday due to a sprained right ankle she suffered during the meet's balance beam warm-up. She will be evaluated this weekend to determine the extent of the injury.
Florida returns to action on March 22nd when the Gators play host to the SportsChannel Senior Night featuring Iowa, Rhode Island and Yale. Meet time is set for 7 p.m in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
