
Gators Combine for 24 All-America, 17 All-SEC Honors

Florida's eight first-team All-Americans on the men's side were tied for the second-most in the country this year
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida track and field program totaled 24 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America honors for the 2016 indoor season. The Gators also tallied 19 All-Southeastern Conference accolades.
Kyra Jefferson led the group of UF All-Americans with three first-team honors. The Detroit native joined Oregon's Edward Cheserek and Tennessee's Christian Coleman as the only other athletes to accomplish that feat this past season.
Florida's eight first-team honors on the men's side were tied with SEC rivals LSU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M for the second-most among all programs this year, while is 11 total All-America honors were the fourth-most in the country. UF's women tallied 13 All-America honors, making it one of six programs with more than 10 for the 2016 campaign.
First-team honors are awarded to all eight finalists of each event at the NCAA Indoor Championships, and second-team honors are awarded to the eight competitors who did not qualify for the finals.

All-SEC Freshman Team laurels are awarded to the top freshman finishers in each event at the conference meet.
