Junior Elliott Orkin was named the SEC Player of the Week on Wednesday afternoon by the conference office.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Junior
Elliott Orkin of the No. 11 University of Florida men's tennis team was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon. Orkin and the Orange and Blue picked up two SEC wins over the weekend.
Orkin was instrumental in Florida's outstanding weekend on the road against No. 24 Mississippi State and No. 41 Alabama. The Gator captain secured two singles victories for UF over two ranked opponents in MSU's No. 80 Rishab Agarwal and Alabama's No. 102 Korey Lovett. Both matches went into a third set, where the Gator is 6-2 in three set matches this season.
In doubles, Orkin and partner
Maxx Lipman picked up another SEC victory on Sunday afternoon over Alabama's Goldin and O'Shaughnessey. The pairing is 8-3 in dual match play this season, including 3-1 in conference play.
Orkin and the Gators take on the No. 43 Vanderbilt Commodores on Friday night at the Ring Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
