GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The University of Florida men's and women's diving teams will travel to Atlanta on Monday to compete in the NCAA Zone Diving Championships that run from Mon., March 7 through Wed., March 9. The Gators will have seven divers compete as they look to qualify for the 2016 NCAA Championships.
The first day of competition will feature the women's one-meter board at 11 a.m. with the men's three-meter following at 3:30 p.m. On Tuesday, the teams will compete in the men's one-meter at 11 a.m. with the men's three-meter coming at 3:30 p.m. The week will conclude on Wednesday with the platform beginning at 11 a.m. for the men and 2:15 p.m. for the women.
Just a few days ago, Florida had nine women swimmers qualify to compete in two weeks at the NCAA Championships, which include eight returners from last year's meet. The list of qualifying men's swimmers is expected to be released on Wednesday, March 9.
Both the men's and women's NCAA meets will be held inside the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta. The women will compete from March 16-19, while the men compete a week later from the 23-26.
Qualifying for the NCAA Championships:
The top five female and top four male divers from each event at the meet will be eligible to compete at the NCAA Championships. Additional place finishers in each event at each zone will be eligible based on the number of student-athletes from that zone who finished in the top 16 in that event at the previous year's NCAA Championships.
This season on the women's side, the top nine will advance on 1-meter, the top eight on 3-meter and the top seven on platform. For the men, the top 10 will advance on both 1-meter and 3-meter, and the top eight will advance on platform. In addition, for those divers who achieve a qualifying spot, an additional selection will be granted for Top-12 placings on a second board.

Florida Head Diving Coach Dale Schultz on the Meet:
"It's been a long season and we're ready for the upcoming week. This team has been working hard and I have confidence each diver has a real good chance to compete well and make a run at the NCAA Championships.
"The SEC Championships were a good learning opportunity to prepare for this meet. But the SECs mean nothing at this point, we're on a clean slate and moving forward with a fresh start.
"The divers will compete from all three boards where the Top-18 advance to the consolation finals and finals -- where their scores carry over. We're set up to succeed and I think we're going to do well.
Coach Schultz on Kahlia Warner:
"Kahlia had a good meet at the SEC Championships but she's done a good job with clearing her mind and moving forward. She knows this is a completely different meet and there's a lot to compete for this week.
"In addition, where some of our other divers maybe weren't happy with their performances at the conference meet, this is a fresh start for them to start over and compete at a high level."
Coach Schultz on Newcomer Sam Smith's First Go-Around at the Meet:
"We switched things up with Sam's routine at the SEC Championships and that played a factor in him not making the finals at one point. He's got a routine we're comfortable with and we're going to stick with it."
