There is no telling what the future holds for Morgan Frazier, but she is holding all the cards… lawyer, political or sports commentator, late-night talk-show host, the world awaits her decision.
With her career as a gymnast at the University of Florida coming to an end, Frazier will be able to follow one of her other passions in life.
Growing up, she wanted to be an actress. As she has gotten older and more realistic, she realized reporting was the next best thing. Which will it be, a career in sports or politics? Morgan Frazier looks to take the next year to figure out the right path for her."I really liked talking," Frazier said. "I just have a really big passion for sports and politics, and I have always wanted to be on TV doing something."
Unfortunately for Frazier, political and sports commentating don't really go hand in hand.
"I'm going to try and take next year to figure out what I want to do," she said. "It's hard loving two things, I feel like I have to choose."
Whether it will be sports reporting like Samantha Ponder or political commentating like Sean Hannity, Frazier's involvement in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Florida Letterman Awards event is sure to assist her on her way to the top.
"I would like to have my own talk show called 'Morgan Unfiltered' where I would talk about both things equally," Frazier said.
During her junior year, as historian for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, she planned and directed the Florida Letterman Awards (FLA) event, which is an ESPY-like show to celebrate the Gator student-athletes. It was an experience she says was a dream to do.
"It gives us a break from athletics," Frazier said. "It is to recognize those who have truly worked their butts off and helped elevate Florida Athletics to the next level."
With the background from her telecommunications major, the gymnast was able to create and produce videos for the event.
This past year, Frazier began shadowing ESPN. During this time, she discovered that was the perfect environment for her to thrive.
Adding onto her already impressive resume, Frazier is the 2015-16 President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. A responsibility she greatly enjoys.
"I was able to do a lot more this year," Frazier said. "I was able to help find ways that the student-athletes can incorporate more into the student body. So they aren't just seen as shiny toys, but seen as students."
As part of her time as president, she also sat in on UAA board meetings, SEC conference calls and assisted in getting athlete representation in Student Government.
The leadership skills this position has helped refine her. Frazier's other major of political science will provide meaningful support for her political aspirations.
"I'm also looking into law school," the 5-foot-2 gymnast said. "I am just trying to think of things that would set me apart."
After graduation, Frazier plans on keeping gymnastics in her life one way or another, whether it's through sports commentating or writing a book on her time as a gymnast.
"I would love to be a commentator for the SEC Network," she said. "I feel like I would be a perfect fit. I know the sport inside and out, and I love talking about it. I will always hold it near and dear to my heart."
