Robinson Foot Surgery Leaves NBA Quest in Limbo

Florida forward Devin Robinson, facing a lengthy rehab, has a decision to make.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Devin Robinson came to the Florida trainer after the season complaining of pain in his left foot. Little did Robinson or the UF health staff know the Gators sophomore forward had a stress fracture that would require surgery.
That procedure was successfully executed Wednesday. Now a rehabilitation period of anywhere from four to six months is next for Robinson, making his status as an underclassmen who has entered his name in the NBA Draft very much uncertain.
"It's unfortunate for Devin, but we're thankful we found out about before it possibly could have gotten worse," Gators coach Mike White said Thursday. "Devin is in great hands here at UF. He'll be back even stronger."
The 6-foot-9 Robinson, who averaged 9.0 points and 5.6 rebounds while starting 18 games during Florida's 2015-16 season, decided earlier this month to take advantage of a new NCAA rule that allows college players to put their name in the NBA underclassmen pool, work out at combines and camps, get feedback about their draft status, and still remove their names to return school, provided they don't hire an agent.
The deadline to withdraw from the draft pool is May 25, meaning Robinson will have to make his decision in the early stages of his rehab — and, obviuosly, without working out for any teams.
Before putting his name in, Robinson was projected as a possible second-round pick, with several league scouts over the course of the season saying Robinson could vault his way into the back of the first round with strong showings in combine situations.
