Defender Taylor Bresnahan and freshman Lindsey Ronbeck were honored after UF won the BIG EAST title Sunday.
NEW YORK -- Two days after claiming the BIG EAST regular-season title with a 13-8 win over UConn, Florida junior Taylor Bresnahan is the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, and Lindsey Ronbeck is the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week and fourth time this season.
Bresnahan and Ronbeck aided the Gators (16-1) to an undefeated 7-0 conference season with wins over Cincinnati (17-5) and UConn (13-8) to wrap up the regular-season slate. Florida racked up its sixth straight league title, second in the BIG EAST Conference.
The reigning Rookie of the Week, Ronbeck once again put up a team-high nine points last week, including the game-winning goal against both the Bearcats and Huskies. The Manhasset, N.Y., native dished out a career-high four assists en route to six points at Cincinnati before posting a hat trick against UConn Sunday.
Bresnahan, who leads UF with 22 caused turnovers on the year and eight in conference play, picked up six draw controls in the clashes with Cincinnati and UConn. After battling for a career-tying six draw controls at Villanova April 16, Bresnahan had her second-most of the season with four in Cincy, then scooped up two against the Huskies.
Also of note, senior Nicole Graziano hit the century mark with 100 career goals following a hat trick against UConn for a special Senior Day, and Sammi Burgess isn't far behind with 96 career goals after a hat trick and team-high five points against the Huskies.
Tuesday's honor marks Ronbeck's fifth overall BIG EAST honor – four Freshman of the Week accolades, one conference honor roll mention – while Bresnahan picked up her first Player of the Week honor after being named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll March 29.
