NEW YORK -- After scoring the game-winning goal in the Gators 10-9 victory over Temple last Saturday, Lindsey Ronbeck was tabbed the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second time this year Tuesday.
Ronbeck's weekly award marks the Gators' staggering 16th conference weekly honor this season, as Florida has cruised to an 11-1 start and compiled a 2-0 record in league play so far with wins over Vanderbilt and Temple.
Ronbeck earns top rookie honors for the second time this season after leading the Gators to a nail-biting win over Temple on Saturday. The freshman scored on all three of her shot attempts for her second career hat trick, with none bigger than the game winner with 4:16 left. Ronbeck broke two ties in the game, 6-6 with time winding down in the first half, and 9-9 in the closing moments of the contest which the Gators won, 10-9. Ronbeck also added a career tying pair of ground balls for No. 2 Florida.
Florida continues BIG EAST play Saturday with a noon game at Georgetown. The Gators and Hoyas tilt will stream live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
