No. 9 Seed Florida to Begin NCAA Tournament Play with UNF

The No. 9 seed University of Florida men's tennis team will begin NCAA Men's tournament play on Saturday afternoon against the University of North Florida Ospreys at noon ET.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 9 seed University of Florida men's tennis team will begin NCAA Men's tournament play on Saturday afternoon against the University of North Florida Ospreys at noon ET. The match will be played at the Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Fla.

Three weeks after winning the program's fifth SEC Tournament title, the Florida Gators will return to action at the Ring Tennis Complex in the First Round of the 2016 NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament. The Gators are currently on a six-match winning streak after defeating their last three regular season opponents and the three matches to win the SEC Tournament.

Florida returns to the NCAA Tournament with their goals in mind after falling to Pepperdine in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament. The Gators will begin with UNF at noon on Saturday.

Last Serve vs. the Ospreys
After UNF secured the doubles point on January 23, 2014, the Gators grabbed five singles victories with Elliott Orkin clinching the 5-2 match win for Florida.
 
Gators to Host First and Second Rounds
UF has been selected to host first and second round matches 13 of the 17 years since the NCAA Men's Championships expanded its field to 64 teams in 1999.  
 
Florida vs. the Field
Florida played 18 of its 24 matches, going 12-6 this season against teams that made the NCAA Tournament field of 64.
 
SEC Tournament Champions!
The Gators captured the program's fifth SEC Tournament title on April 24 in Columbia, S.C. Florida defeated Vanderbilt and avenged two regular season losses to Texas A&M and Georgia to win the tournament title.
 
Bringing in the SEC Awards
The SEC Yearly awards were full of Gators in April. Head Coach Bryan Shelton was named SEC Coach of the Year, Diego Hidalgo earned SEC Player of the Year and Alfredo Perez was named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Year. Elliott Orkin and Gordon Watson were also named to the First Team All-SEC.
