The Virgina Tech transfer averaged 8.4 points per game as a sophomore.
Florida men's basketball head coach Mike White officially announced on Monday that Jalen Hudson will transfer to UF from Virginia Tech. A 6-foot-5 guard, Hudson will sit out the 2016-17 season under NCAA transfer regulations and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Hudson appeared in 67 games with 27 starts over two seasons at Virginia Tech, averaging 7.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. Last season as a sophomore, Hudson scored 8.4 points per game and shot .346 from 3-point range. The Richmond, Va., native posted five 20-point games for the Hokies, including a 32-point performance in a win over Wake Forest at the 2015 ACC Tournament.
Hudson entered Virginia Tech in 2014 as a four-star recruit out of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio.
Hudson will be the second transfer to come to Florida from Virginia Tech, following in the footsteps of Dorian Finney-Smith, the 2014 SEC Sixth Man of the Year and a 2015 and 2016 All-SEC performer who graduated this spring.
The Gators now have five newcomers slated for the 2016-17 season, including graduate transfer Canyon Barry and freshmen Dontay Bassett, Gorjok Gak and Eric Hester.
