TULSA, Okla. – Two members of the University of Florida men's tennis team advanced to the NCAA Singles Round of 32. Junior Elliott Orkin and freshman Alfredo Perez each defeated their respective opponents to earn a berth into the singles second round on Thursday morning.
Junior Orkin used straight sets to defeat No. 55-ranked Simon Norenius. The 7-5, 6-2 decision earned Orkin a berth into the NCAA Round of 32 to take on UVA's Ryan Shane. Freshman Perez needed three sets to earn a victory over Shawn Hadavi of Columbia. After splitting sets with Hadavi, Perez was able to blank the Columbia player, 6-0 in the third to advance to the second round.
Tomorrow, the two Gators will compete in the singles Round of 32 in the morning with doubles action beginning in the afternoon.
