Sixteen Gators Named to SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll

The Gators' 16 honorees tied for the most among UF's spring women's sports.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- A staggering 16 Gator lacrosse players were among 94 University of Florida student-athletes named to the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll Wednesday by the league office. The Gators' 16 lacrosse selections tied for the most among UF's women's spring sports with track & field and tied for the second-most among all spring sports -- men's track and field led the way with 19 academic honor roll picks.
All 10 University of Florida seniors were named to the Academic Honor Roll, and all 10 earned their undergraduate degrees this spring as well. A total of 10 Gator student-athletes graduated Cum Laude this spring and four of those were lacrosse players: Sam Darcangelo, Lauren Lea, Carly Ross & Devon Schneider. On top of that, redshirt senior Nicole Graziano earned her master's degree after graduating with her undergraduate degree in 2015.
The Gators also got it done on the field in 2016. Florida swept both the BIG EAST regular season and tournament slates to win the program's sixth straight conference championship. The Orange and Blue finished the regular season with a .900 win percentage (18-2), second-best in program history, collected four IWLCA All-America honors, seven All-BIG EAST honorees and swept five of the six major BIG EAST postseason awards.
The 2016 SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll is scheduled for release Thursday.
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
