
Gators Stay Strong to Finish Gainesville Regional of ITA Summer Circuit

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gainesville Regional ITA Summer Circuit came to a close on the fourth day of the competition, and the Gators defended their home courts well.
Sophomore McClain Kessler and redshirt junior Joshua Wardell took the doubles title 7-5 from Jack Findel-Hawkins of UNF, and Ros Mattia of Bolles High School in Jacksonville, Fla.
The Gators also shined in the men's singles competition, where Kessler, Wardell, junior Jordan Belga and freshman Stephen Madonia all played in the quarterfinals on Monday morning. Kessler defeated teammate Belga to advance to the semifinals of the upper half of the bracket. IMG Academy's Andres Andrade went on to earn the single's title on Tuesday morning.
For the women's side of the tournament, UF junior Peggy Porter advanced to the semifinal round of the women's singles competition, but was eliminated by Elon University's Erica Braschi.

Last week, UF senior Kourtney Keegan competed at the ITA Summer Circuit hosted by the University of Alabama, where she took the women's singles title and made it to the final round of the women's doubles competition.
Florida dominates in the Gainesville Regional
2015: Junior Elliott Orkin took the men's singles title, redshirt sophomore Joshua Wardell and sophomore Chase Perez-Blanco took the men's doubles title, sophomore Peggy Porter and junior Kourtney Keegan took the women's doubles title.
2014: Junior Gordon Watson took the men's singles title, freshman Chase Perez-Blanco and redshirt freshman Joshua Wardell took the men's doubles title.
2012: Junior Michael Alford took the men's singles title
