RIO DE JANEIRO – Gator letterwinners enjoyed another successful day at the Olympics, with women's golfer Sandra Gal (Germany) jumping up 17 spots on the leaderbord after carding a 2-under 69.
Action on the track saw Americans Arman "Gino" Hall and Tony McQuay lead Team USA's 4x400 relay to an automatic berth in the men's final, while Jamaican Novlene Williams-Mills anchored her nation's 4x400 relay to victory in its preliminary race on the women's side.
Genevieve LaCaze (Australia) finished 12th in the women's 5,000 meters final, as she clocked a 10-second personal record.
The women's 4x400 relay final is slated for 9:00 p.m. ET, while the men's 4x400 relay final will start at 9:35 p.m. ET. Both races will air live on NBC. - Sandra Gal (Germany) had her best outing of the week in Friday's third round, carding six birdies en route to a 2-under 69, her first under-par round of the Olympics.
- Gal moved 17 spots up the leaderboard.
- The fourth and final round tees off Saturday, with Gal teeing off at 6:16 a.m. ET.
- The overall leader after the Third Round is Inbee Park (South Korea) with a -11 (202).
- Competition will span from August 17-20, and consists of 72 holes of individual stroke play. Scores are cumulative from round to round with all competitors playing 72 holes. There is no 36-hole cut. The golfer with the lowest aggregate score wins. In the event of a tie for first, second or third place, a play-off or multiple play-offs shall be conducted for the purpose of determining the gold, silver and bronze medal winners.

- Novlene Williams-Mills (Jamaica) anchored her nation's 4x400 relay to victory in its preliminary race.
- Arman "Gino" Hall (USA) and Tony McQuay (USA) ran the leadoff and second leg, respectively, for the Americans' 4x400 relay, which nabbed a second-place finish in their qualifying heat. Hall and McQuay both had Team USA in the lead at the time of their exchanges.
- Genevieve LaCaze (Australia) clocked a 10-second personal record to take 12th place in the 5,000 meters final. LaCaze also set a personal record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Olympic final earlier this week.
