Ryan Lochte, Conor Dwyer and Dan Wallace won Olympic medals.
RIO DE JANEIRO – It was a huge day for Gator letterwinners who won a combined three medals – two gold and one silver – at the Olympic Games on Tuesday.

Swimming
Tuesday proved to be the most successful night of the Games' swimming schedule so far for Florida, with three Gators winning three medals and bringing their total medal count to five.
Ryan Lochte, Conor Dwyer and the rest of USA's 4x200 free relay team took gold in the finals, posting a 7:00.66 time to win the race. Dwyer led things off for Team USA with a 1:45.23 split, and Lochte, who anchored in the morning's heats, swam the third leg in 1:46.03.
Dan Wallace, the third leg of both Great Britain's heats and finals relays, won his first Olympic medal with his second-place finish. Wallace clocked a 1:46.26 split, and the team totaled a time of 7:03.13 to take silver.
Three other Gators also participated in 4x200 free relay heats. Sebastien Rousseau swam the second leg of South Africa's race in 1:48.35, finishing in 11th place and with a 7:12.61 team time. Jan Switkowski led off Poland, swimming a split of 1:47.95 and a team time of 7:11.11. Mitch D'Arrigo also began the race for Italy with a 1:47.65 split and a 7:09.20 total. Italy and Poland were the first and second team alternates for the finals.
Caeleb Dressel opened the morning for Florida in the 100 free heats, placing second in his heat at 47.91 and advancing to the night's semifinals. Dressel finished fifth overall at 47.97, nabbing a five-seed in Wednesday night's finals and a shot at his first individual Olympic medal.

Recognizing Ryan
- Ryan Lochte, 32, is the second-oldest male Olympic swimmer from the USA since 1924.
- Ryan is competing in his fourth Olympic Games, with only Dara Torres and Liston Bochette having qualified for more (5 each)
- After capturing a Gold Medal tonight, Lochte now has won 12 Olympic Medals, tied for the most by a Gator (Dara Torres)
- Lochte's 12 Olympic Medals is the second-most all-time among Team USA male swimmers, trailing only Michael Phelps. Tonight, Lochte moved past legendary Mark Spitz to sit alone in second place.
