No. 18 Gators at LSU Friday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida soccer heads west to face LSU Friday for the only match of the weekend for both teams. Match time is 8 p.m. ET at the LSU Soccer Complex and admission is free.

Last meeting:
When Florida and LSU met in 2015, the Gators used a goal in each half to take a 2-1 win over LSU. Betsy Middleton blasted in an 18-yard shot after Brooke Sharp touched it out to her in the 24th minute. Senior Claire Falknor brought the ball down to the top of LSU defensive third, exchanged passes with Savannah Jordan before sending the final pass which Jordan placed in with a right-footed shot. A shutout was denied when the Tigers' Lexi Gibbs scored in 89th minute.
 
Last Match:
Florida is coming off a 2-0 win over Tennessee on Sept. 25. The first started when Samantha Chung stepped up to a Tennessee clearance attempt and one-timed it forward to Savannah Jordan just above the 18-yard box. Jordan and her marker fought step for step as they moved toward goal, with Jordan getting the final touch to score from seven yards just inside the near post at 68:02. Florida got an insurance goal in the 89th minute when Sarah Troccoli sent the ball from the endline to freshman Sammie Betters located high and wide of the 18-yard box. Her right-footed 23-yard shot curled in at the far post upper corner for her first collegiate goal.

About the LSU Tigers:
LSU is 5-3 in September 2016 action, with home wins over Mississippi (3-0) and Lamar (4-0). Last weekend, LSU dropped a pair of road matches (3-1 at No. 8 South Carolina and 3-0 at Vanderbilt). Junior Jorian Baucom leads the Tigers and is second in SEC standings with nine goals for 18 points. Sophomore Caroline Brockmeier, who transferred to LSU after playing at Florida State in the 2015 season, is the only Tiger to play in goal this season, recording five shutouts and a 1.33 goals against average.
 
Florida owns a 16-1-2 advantage in the all-time series, with two of the last five meetings being decided by a single goal.
 
Brian Lee is in his 12th season as LSU's head coach.
