Troupe caught a game-winning touchdown pass in the 2002 victory, while Chandler made five field goals in four Florida-Georgia games
Jacksonville, Fla. – Two of the best Gators in history at their respective positions are set to enter the 2016 Merrill-Lynch/Bank of America Florida-Georgia Hall of Fame Presented by Ruth's Chris on Friday, Oct. 28, as part of the Georgia-Florida weekend.
All-American tight end Ben Troupe and three-time All-SEC kicker Jeff Chandler will be joined by Georgia defensive back Scott Woerner and defensive lineman Marcus Stroud for the induction at the 21st annual luncheon at EverBank Field.
"We look forward to recognizing this special class of Hall of Fame inductees," said Dave Herrell, Sports & Entertainment Officer, City of Jacksonville. The Florida-Georgia Hall of Fame Luncheon and Induction Ceremony is a unique opportunity to celebrate and honor the incredible tradition of this signature and iconic Jacksonville event."
Troupe, who played for the Gators from 2000-03, totaled 128 receiving yards and one touchdown on eight receptions in his three Florida-Georgia appearances. Troupe's lone touchdown capped a 10-play, 89-yard drive in the fourth quarter, and was the game-winning score in UF's 20-13 victory in 2002. Troupe posted a game-high 58 receiving yards in the Gators' victory the following year as well.
The Swainsboro, Georgia native ranks second in receiving yards (958), tied for third in receptions (64), and tied for fourth in receiving touchdowns (seven) among UF tight ends since 1996. Troupe also went on to play four seasons in the National Football League with the Tennessee Titans (2004-07).
Chandler, who donned the Orange and Blue from 1998-2001, made five of his six field goal attempts, helping UF to four victories over Georgia. Chandler's 54-yarder in UF's 34-23 win in 2000 was the longest field goal of his career.
The Jacksonville, Fla. native ranks second in UF history in career field goals made (67), field goals attempted (80), and consecutive field goals made (16). He still holds school records for career field goal percentage (83.8 percent), PATs attempted (180), and PATs made (167).
