Gators Sign Hong and Ye for 2018

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Two golfers are set to join the Gators men's golf team for the fall of 2018.

Both Aden Ye and Eugene Hong signed on with Florida Wednesday and will join the team next fall. Ye currently plays at Lake Mary Prep in Lake Mary, Fla. while Hong is at Circle Christian School in Orlando.

Aden Ye | Dongguan, China (Lake Mary Prep)

Currently ranked 2nd in the Golfweek / Sagarin Rankings
Finished two-under at the PGA Volvo China Open in April
At 13 years old, became the youngest player in European Tour history at the Omega European Masters
Also in 2013, competed at the PGA Volvo China Open
Named to the 2015, 2016, 2017 AJGA All-American Team
Won the 2016 Nanjing Open

Coach's take: "I couldn't be more excited to add Aden Ye to the Gator Golf family," coach J.C. Deacon said. "Aden is going to have an immediate impact on our team, on and off the golf course. He is extremely hard working, dedicated, and mature. Aden is already having a positive effect on our culture and future. We are so grateful to have a person and player who is a champion in all aspects of his life."

Currently ranked 13th in the Golfweek / Sagarin Rankings
Ranked 46th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings
Named to the 2015, 2016, 2017 AJGA All-American Team
Semifinalist at the US Junior Am in 2016
Competed at the 2017 US Amateur Championship

Coach's take: "We have waited very patiently for this day with Eugene and his family," Deacon said. "He has been committed to the University of Florida for a long time. Eugene has shown the ability to play at the highest level of Junior Golf for incredibly long periods of time. His nickname "The Machine" refers to his elite level of consistency. I am so excited to add his calm demeanor and strong passion for the game to our team. Eugene is going to be a game changer for the Gators!"
