Due to a hip injury, Jordan Sherit's football career is over.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Gators defensive end Jordan Sherit, whose fifth-year senior season was cut short last season due to a hip injury and subsequent surgery, announced Wednesday that he is retiring from football.
Sherit was playing at a high level when he was injured in an October home loss to Texas A&M. Sherit ranked sixth on the team with 23 tackles and second with 2.5 sacks at the time of the injury.
Sherit played at Hillsborough High in Tampa prior to coming to UF.
Off the field, Sherit became the first active UF player to pursue his master's degree in international business in program history. In addition, he spent last summer in Munich, Germany, to fulfill his internship requirements for that degree.
