
Four Gators Named to Coaches All-SEC Team

Dawson tabbed to first-team; Ivey, Pineiro, Townsend named second-team selections
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Four Gators were picked to the 2017 Coaches All-SEC teams, as the Southeastern Conference announced on Tuesday. Senior Duke Dawson earned a spot on the first-team, while Martez Ivey, Eddy Pineiro and Johnny Townsend were tabbed to the second-team.
Dawson registered 34 tackles during his senior season, as well as nine pass breakups. He tallied four interceptions on the year, including a pick-six against Michigan that he ran back 48 yards for the score. Dawson's four interceptions tie him with CJ Henderson for the most on the Gators and ties him for second overall in the SEC.
Ivey garnered second-team honors after helping the Gators average 335.9 yards of offense per game this season. With his help, Lamical Perine and Malik Davis both eclipsed 500 rushing yards on the year.
Pineiro was named second-team All-SEC after finishing the regular season with the highest field goal percentage in the nation. He made 17-of-18 attempts this season, good for 99.4%. The redshirt junior finished his season making 16 straight field goals, putting him second in UF history for most consecutive field goals made. Through two seasons, Pineiro has converted on 38-of-43 attempts, putting him first in UF's history with a total field goal percentage of 88.4%. Pineiro set another UF program record this season, becoming the first Gator to make two 50-yard field goals in one game (UAB).
Townsend earned Coaches All-SEC second-team accolades after recording 3,043 yards on 64 punts this season. His average of 47.55 yards per punt led the SEC and put him second in the nation. The redshirt senior booted 27 punts inside the 20-yard line, while also registering 27 punts of over 50 yards. During the course of the season, he moved into first place in UF program history for total yards (11,090) and total punts (240).
