GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 1-ranked University of Florida softball team hits the road again one more time with a solo contest at Jacksonville University on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. before the team returns for its 2017 home opener at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium this upcoming weekend.

The Gators (5-0) are coming off an impressive opening weekend that featured a pair of top 25 win over previously No.6-ranked Michigan and No.25/24 USF at the USF Wilson-DeMarini Tournament in Tampa, Fla.

  • Senior left-handed pitcher Delanie Gourley tossed her eighth career one-hitter in the effort against Illinois State on opening day. The Lakeside, Calif. native was efficient as she recorded 12 strikeouts over 16 batters faced on the day.
  • Sophomore Kelly Barnhill threw her third career one-hitter in an 8-0 (6) victory over No. 25/24 USF (Feb. 12, 2017). She struck out 12 batters and issued zero walks over 87 pitches.

  • Sophomore Amanda Lorenz set a new career-high for RBIs after she drove in five runs against No. 25/24 USF (Feb. 12, 2017). Her previous career mark was four RBIs against Texas A&M (April 29, 2016). Lorenz also tallied three home runs on the weekend.
  • Jaimie Hoover hit her first career home run, a grand slam, in the bottom of the second inning against Delaware (Feb. 12, 2017) in a 9-0 (5) victory. Hoover has started three games this season on the hot corner at third base for the Gators and is hitting .286.
  • Sophia Reynoso hit her first career home run in the top of the sixth inning against No. 25/24 USF (Feb. 12, 2017). Last season Reynoso sat out with an injury and received a redshirt but has started all five games at shortstop for the Gators thus far.
  • The Gators won their third consecutive game against the Wolverines and now lead the all-time series 10-9 and have won 10 out of the last 12 meetings.
  • Justine McLean tied her career-high with three hits in the contest against St. John's. Previous career-high occurred on March 15, 2015 against USF.
  • The 2-1 victory over then ranked No. 6 Michigan is the first victory in an extra inning game since a 3-1 decision against Mississippi State on April 24, 2016. The Gators improved to 78-34 in extra-inning games and 5-4 in 10 inning contests.
    • Only the second extra-inning game between the Wolverines: UF won 9-4 (8 innings) on Feb. 8, 2014 in Tampa.
  • Florida improved to 32-5 overall with its 13th consecutive opening day win.
Coaches Corner
"Last weekend was good. I was a little unsure of where we would go offensively to start the weekend but I just wanted to see who could step up and really perform at a level that is going to help us get wins. I thought everybody really performed at the same level they've been at and there weren't a whole lot of surprises for me this weekend. I thought everybody played pretty consistent." – Tim Walton
