INDIANAPOLIS – The Gator women got their feet wet at the women's NCAA Championships today, beginning the four-day meet with the 800 free relay.
Florida's lineup of Kelsey Dambacher, Kelly Fertel, Sherridon Dressel and Amelia Maughan finished sixth in the first heat and 21st overall at 7:06.85.
Maughan, who received an All-America honorable mention in this event last year as the youngest Gator relay member, led Florida with an anchoring 1:45.52 split. Dambacher led off with a 1:46.26, and Fertel followed with a 1:46.97. Dressel swam third, splitting 1:48.10.
As the relay was today's lone event, Florida gets into the meat of its NCAA meet starting tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET with 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free prelims. 1-meter diving trials will follow at 12:30 p.m.
