Thursday, April 13, 2017 | Softball
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Senior Delanie Gourley was tabbed as Top 10 finalist for the Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be classified as NCAA Division I seniors and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
"This is a very special honor for Delanie." Head Coach Tim Walton said. "Most people know how talented she is on the softball field but more importantly, Delanie is a great person. Someone like Delanie doesn't come along very often in a coach's career.
"She is loved by her teammates and coaches, respected by all of her competitors and all of Gator Nation is lucky to have such a great person represent our brand."
Gourley, a 2017 USA Softball Player of the Year finalist, is on track to graduate with a degree in Sociology and has spent the last four years at Florida as mentor both on the team and in the community as she has currently volunteered over 70-plus hours to local organizations and unselfishly helped her fellow teammates excel.
