GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida softball team returns home to Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium for a midweek contest against in-state foe UCF Wednesday at 6 p.m.
The Gators (40-3) jumped back to the No. 1 spot in both the
USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll after the team went 4-1 on the week with Top 25 wins over Georgia, Florida State and two versus Kentucky.

Florida Notables
- Sophomore Kelly Barnhill earned the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Pitcher of the Week award, USA Softball Co-Player of the Week Award and SEC Pitcher of the Week. It was Barnhill's third SEC Pitcher of the Week award this season, which is the most in one season by any Florida pitcher.
- Florida moved back to the No. 1 spot in both major polls for the first time since Feb. 14. The Gators have ranked inside the Top 5 of both major polls every week since the 2014 season.
- The Gators currently sit in first place of the SEC Standings with a 15-2 record. Following up Florida in the standings in second place is Texas A&M and Tennessee (11-3) while Auburn sits fourth overall with a 10-5 record. This weekend Ole Miss comes to town with an SEC record of 6-9.

The Gators hold an all-time record of 20-4 against the Knights (23-19) and have won the last eight straight games by a combined score of 48-10.
The last time Florida dropped a contest against UCF occurred April 11, 2012 (2-0) and the last time it happened in Gainesville was May 18, 2008 (1-0, 8 innings).

Florida and UCF squared off three times during the 2016 season with the Gators taking all three. The first was a regular season contest where UF won a pitcher' duel 3-1 in Orlando and then took on the Knights during NCAA Regional play with winning results of 5-0 and a mercy rule shutout of 8-0 (5) to advance to the NCAA Super Regional round.

May 21, 2016 | Delanie Gourley threw a one-hit shutout over the Knights in during the two squads game in the NCAA Regional round.
The Florida offense scored a variety of ways throughout the game as
Amanda Lorenz knocked a solo home run in the third,
Aubree Munro with RBI singles in the fifth and seventh innings, an infield RBI single from
Taylore Fuller and a SAC fly by Kelsey Steward in the seventh.

May 22, 2016 | In the championship game of the NCAA Regional the Gators scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to rout the Knights.
Aleshia Ocasio picked up the win in the circle with a complete-game three-hit shutout.
The big inning produced a rare play from the Gators as on a bases loaded walk not one but two runs scored. Fuller was on third trotting home while
Kelsey Stewart blazed a trail from second base to steal home.
Nicole DeWitt produced a three-run home run shortly after to give UF an 8-0 lead.
