GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Six Gators appear on the 2017 Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll. League commissioner Greg Sankey announced the SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll Wednesday.
The 2017 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2016 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
Academic honors are flowing the way of junior Alex McMurtry this season. In addition to today's honor, McMurtry is gymnastics' NCAA Elite 90 Award recipient. Last month, she became the second in league history to take both the SEC Gymnast and SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the same season.
Claire Boyce appears on the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the third straight year, while Grace McLaughlin makes her second consecutive. Amanda Cheney, Lacy Dagen and Ashley Hiller earn a spot on the team in their first season eligible for the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
