Super Regional: Florida Welcomes Alabama To Gainesville

Florida and Alabama will face each other for the first time of the 2017 season Thursday, May 25 at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida and Alabama will square off for the first time this season May 25-27 at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium during the NCAA Super Regional round.

The Gators (53-7) won the Gainesville Regional with a 5-0 victory in game seven over Oklahoma State while the Crimson Tide (45-16) advanced out of the Tuscaloosa Regional with a 1-0 win over Minnesota.

Ticket Information
Tickets for the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament will go on sale Tuesday, May 23 at 1 p.m.

Tomorrow all session passes will be available for purchase for all three areas (reserved, general admission and berm/outfield) along with single game tickets for general admission and berm/outfield sections.

If available, single game tickets for reserved sections will go on sale Wednesday, May 24 at 8:30 a.m.

  • Florida and Alabama will meet for the 67th time this upcoming weekend. The Gators trail in the series 31-35.
  • First time the two programs will meet in the NCAA Super Regional round but the fifth time overall in the NCAA Tournament.
  • The Gators and Crimson Tide met all five times at the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
  • The last time the two met in the NCAA Tournament was during the 2014 WCWS Championship series when Florida defeated Alabama 5-0 & 6-3 to claim the program's first ever national championship.
  • Florida and Alabama did not play each other during the 2017 regular season. Alabama claimed the last regular season series meeting 2-1 (2-1, 2-3 & 3-0) in Gainesville at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.

Delanie Gourley
  • Pitched 12.0 shutout innings during this year's NCAA Regional round. She only allowed one hit and two walks while she struck out 19 batters.
    • Threw her fourth individual no-hitter of her career against Florida A&M (5/19). It's the most no-hitters by a Gator over their career.

      • 4/22/16 – Mississippi State – W, 16-0 (5)
      • 3/9/2016 – South Dakota – W, 9-0 (5)
      • 5/16/2014 – Florida A&M – W, 8-0 (5)
    • Hurled a one-hitter against Oklahoma State in an elimination game to advance to the Super Regional round.
      • It was her fourth individual one-hitter of the season and 11th over her career.
        • Ranks as the second-most one-hitters by a Gator behind Stacey Nelson's 15.
Kelly Barnhill
  • Tossed 13.0 innings. Only allowed four hits total and one earned run with three walks and 28 strikeouts.
    • She threw her fourth individual one-hitter of the season May 20, against Oklahoma State.
      • It was the sixth overall one-hitter of her career.
  • Struck out the side four times in two games against the Cowgirls.
    • She has now struck out the side 44 times on the year.
  • Now has 310 strikeouts on the season, which ranks third overall in Florida history behind Stacey Nelson (363 – 2008 & 357 – 2009).
  • Produced 10 or more strikeouts 16 times this season and recorded her 12th shutout of the year in the 2-0 win against Oklahoma State (5/20).
Amanda Lorenz
  • Led off the Gators elimination game against Oklahoma State with a double and was driven home by Nicole DeWitt's two-run home run in bottom of the first.
  • Hit her 10th home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning against Florida A&M (5/19)
    • First season with 10 + home runs. The 10 home runs tie her for 10th amongst all sophomores in Florida history.
  • Lorenz finished the regional 5-for-11 at the plate with three RBIs, two runs scored, a double and a home run.
  • Now has 21 multi-hit game of the season and 10 multi-RBI game of the season.
Nicole DeWitt
  • In the bottom of the first, she hit the crucial two-run home run to put the Gators up 2-0 in the elimination game against Oklahoma State.
  • Went 3-for-9 in the regional with three runs scored, three RBIs, two walks and a hit by pitch.
Overall Program Notes
  • Program advanced to its 10th NCAA Super Regional and now holds a 38-19 record in NCAA Regional play.
  • Won 14 straight NCAA Regional games dating back to 2012 and tallied 12 straight by way of shut out until Oklahoma State defeated Florida 1-0 in the first game on the final day.
  • Current pitching staff in NCAA Regional play: 54.0 innings, 11 hits, 1 run, 11 walks and 103 strikeouts.
