GAINESVILLE, Fla.--Florida pitchers Michael Byrne and Alex Faedo continue to rack up postseason honors.
On Thursday, the duo earned All-American honors from D1Baseball.com. Previously, both players earned All-America honors from Baseball America, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Perfect Game.
Byrne, named to the D1Baseball.com All-America First Team, broke the school record for saves in a single season, totaling 16 saves as Florida prepares for the College World Series this weekend. He has a 1.83 earned run average and 84 strikeouts to just 15 walks. Byrne (pictured, right) is a finalist for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award, given annually to the top reliever in college baseball.
A Second Team All-America selection, Faedo leads the weekend rotation with a 2.55 earned run average and has limited opponents to a .221 batting average. His career record of 26-6 is the best in school history for players with at least 20 decisions. Faedo was one of 25 semifinalists for the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award.
Florida returns to action this weekend at the College World Series. The Gators will open against TCU on Sunday at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
