Red-Shirt Sophomore Offensive Lineman Named to National Honors Award List
2017 Rimington Trophy Watch List
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Red-shirt sophomore T.J. McCoy was named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List, as announced on Tuesday.
McCoy, a social and behavioral sciences major earned a spot on the preseason watch list after appearing in seven games for the Gators last season on the offensive line. The Clermont, Fla. native made his collegiate debut against Kentucky in the second week of the 2016 season, then continued to be a valued part of the Gators at center, starting the final four games of the season.
The Rimington Trophy is awarded to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I-A football. Dave Rimington is said by many to be the best college lineman of all-time.
The winner will be selected by determining the consensus All-American center pick from three existing All-America teams. The honor will be presented on January 13, 2018 in Lincoln, Neb.
