2017 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland earned a spot on the 2017 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list, as announced on Tuesday.
Cleveland, a Houston, Texas native, garnered a spot on the watch list after he appeared in 11 games and started four at wide receiver for the Gators in 2016. Statistically, Cleveland totaled 14 catches for 298 yards and two touchdowns, one of which was a 98-yard reception.
The play, which happened on Nov. 19, 2016 at LSU, ranks as the second longest touchdown pass in UF history. However, it was the longest touchdown in program lore against an SEC opponent.
In addition, in that game Cleveland became one of only three true freshman in UF history to record a 100-yard receiving game, totaling 124 yards. For his efforts, Cleveland earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors.
Overall, he finished the season averaging 21.3 yards per catch.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award was announced in 2012 by the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler.
