Summer is officially over.
Student-athletes reported back to campus over the weekend and classes start today.
To wrap up the summer, here's a final look at how our current player performed in summer league action.
Runner-Up...
Michael Byrne, Cotuit Kettleers: Byrne headed to the prestigious Cape Cod League to spend his summer with the Kettleers, who finished second in the West Division and reached the playoffs. Byrne did his part, posting a 0.63 earned run average in 14.1 innings of work.
Runner-Up...
Blake Reese, New Market Rebels: Reese headed to Virginia to help the Rebels finish second in the South Division of the Valley League. He played in 12 games and hit .348 (16-for-46) and scored 12 runs. Reese hit a pair of home runs and had three doubles and two triples.

PITCHER OF THE SUMMER
Tyler Dyson, Madison Mallards: After providing a huge boost to the Gators in the 2017 postseason, Dyson headed to the Northwoods League to join the Mallards and continued to shine. He made six appearances on the mound (five starts) and posted a 1.53 earned run average over 29.1 innings pitched. He had an incredible 31 strikeouts to just three walks with the Mallards.Runner-Up...

HITTER OF THE SUMMER
Nick Horvath, Palm Beach Snowbirds: Horvath stayed in Florida and provided a big bat for the Snowbirds in their inaugural season in the Collegiate League of Palm Beaches. Horvath played in 14 games and hit .381 (16-for-42) with 13 RBIs.
