
Gak and Koulechov Close Out World University Games Play

Egor Koulechov and Israel finish sixth in Taipei.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Egor Koulechov, Israel, and Gorjok Gak, Australia, helped their countries place sixth and ninth at the World University Games, respectively.
After finishing second in Group D play, Koulechov and Israel advanced to quarterfinal action against the United States. Despite a near double-double performance from Koulechov, 11 points and seven rebounds, Israel fell in overtime 111-107.
With the loss, Israel faced Finland for the right to play in the fifth place game. The Gator transfer shot lights out finishing 10-of-14 from the field with a game-high 24 points to help his country advance.
Koulechov reached double figures for the seventh time in the tournament posting 13 points in an 83-75 loss to Germany. Israel finished sixth in the tournament.
After finishing fourth in Group D, Gak and Australia played in the consolation bracket.
The Aussies faced Estonia in the first round as Gak's 17 point and 10 rebound double-double performance lifted them to a 105-83 victory. Gak finished the game shooting 8-of-10 from the field as Australia advanced to face Mexico.
Again, the Aussies cruised to a sizeable win topping Mexico 93-71 while Gak posted eight points and eight boards.
They advanced to the consolation championship against Canada. Gak poured in 14 points while leading Australia with eight board en route to a 101-96 win, claiming ninth place.
