Gators Ranked No. 16 in preseason Coaches Poll

Defending SEC champion Alabama opens the season ranked No. 1.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The first major preseason poll is out.
The USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll released its preseason Top 25 on Thursday afternoon and the Gators check in at No. 16. Florida opens the season Sept. 2 against No. 9-ranked Michigan in Arlington, Texas, in the Advocare Classic.
Defending Southeastern Conference champion Alabama is No. 1, followed by Ohio State, Florida State, Southern Cal and defending national champion Clemson to round out the top five spots.
Overall, the SEC has six teams in the Top 25 as LSU (No. 12), Auburn (No. 13), Georgia (No. 15) and Tennessee (No. 24) join Florida and Alabama.
The Associated Press Top 25 is scheduled to be released later this month.
