Collegiate Baseball Ranks Gators Class No. 2

Collegiate Baseball Newspaper released its annual recruiting rankings this week and rated the 2017 Florida Gators class as the second best in the nation.

Under head coach Kevin O'Sullivan, Florida has ranked in the top eight of the Collegiate Baseball recruiting rankings for nine years in a row.

Previously, Baseball America also ranked the Gators at No. 2 in the country.

Of the 17 newcomers, five players were selected in the 2017 MLB Draft. The groups includes 13 freshman and four junior college transfers.

Florida went 52-19 last season and won the program's first-ever College World Series championship. The Gators earned a top-eight national seed for NCAA play for the eighth time in nine years, the best mark of any school in the country.

Fall practice is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Oct. 11, at McKethan Stadium with the 2018 season scheduled to start February 16.
